nfty

Australia-wide · Based in Adelaide · Trades · Clinics · Restaurants · Offices

It's 7pm. Your phone's in the van. Someone's ringing.

nfty is an AI receptionist for Australian businesses. It answers the calls you can't get to, after hours or when everyone's flat out, takes the job or the booking, and sends it to whoever needs it. You keep your number.

  • A small Adelaide team
  • No lock-in
  • One person or a whole team

We connect nfty to the software you already run, usually within a day or two of you asking. Every job also lands by text and email, whatever you use. Tradify has no public API, so there it's text and email only, and we tell you that before you sign, not after.

The problem

You're not losing work to better businesses. You're losing it to whoever picked up.

62%

of calls to home-service businesses go unanswered

Study of 50,000+ contractor phone lines, 2024. Industry average, not a claim about your business.

67%

of those callers ring a competitor straight away

They don't leave a message and they don't try again. 78% hire whoever answers first.

One missed call on a Saturday is a job someone else did on Monday.

What changes

Same phone. Same number. Nobody gets voicemail.

Right now, when you can't pick up

  • The call goes to voicemail, and 80% hang up without leaving a message.
  • They ring the next business on Google, and 78% hire whoever answers first.
  • You find out on Monday, from a list of numbers with no names.
  • An emergency waits until someone checks the phone.

With nfty

  • The calls you miss get answered, nights, weekends and when you're flat out.
  • Name, number, address, what's gone wrong and how urgent, all taken down.
  • The whole job is texted to whoever's on before the caller's put their phone down.
  • Emergencies get triaged and ring a real person straight through.

Offices and professional services

A front desk for the firm: answers, takes a proper message and puts the right calls through to the right person.

Plus vets, gyms, mechanics, cleaners, accountants and anyone else who can't always get to the phone.

How it works

Three steps. You do the first one, once.

01

Divert the ones you miss

A short code on your mobile, or a diversion on the office line, sends only the calls nobody picks up to nfty. Everything your team does answer, they answer as normal.

What it replaces

The other ways to get your phone answered.

What it costs when someone else picks up, or nobody does.

OptionWhat it costs a monthThe catch
Answering serviceAbout $580–630 at 150 calls$25–185 a month plus $2.45–3.99 every call
ReceptionistAbout $5,400–6,600$65,000–80,000 a year fully loaded, and they go home at five

nftyFrom $149 a month, minutes includedNo per-call fees. Past your allowance it's cents a minute, not dollars a call

Answering-service and salary figures are Australian market survey ranges for 2026, not our own numbers. Per-call billing is the part that catches people out: at $2.45–3.99 a call, your busiest month costs the most.

What it can do

More than an answering machine. A receptionist that never clocks off.

Answers every call you miss

Nights, weekends, public holidays and the middle of a job. It takes more than one call at a time, so nobody hears an engaged tone.

Takes the job down properly

Name, number, address, what's wrong, how urgent, access notes. Every call comes out as a tidy job, not a voicemail.

Puts urgent calls through

Gas, flooding, no power: it rings you or whoever's on call and hands the caller straight over.

Speaks their language

Pick an Australian voice that suits you. It speaks more than 30 languages and switches mid-call if the caller does.

Answers texts and WhatsApp

Customers who message instead of ringing get the same quick answer, and the job lands with you the same way.

Works on your website too

The same assistant can sit on your site as a chat or call button, taking jobs while you're asleep.

Records and summarises every call

Listen back, read the transcript, or skim the two-line summary. Searchable whenever you need it.

Sorts the calls for you

New job, quote, existing customer, complaint or spam. Sales calls and robocalls get politely ended.

Follows up for you

Reminders the day before, quote follow-ups and "how did we go?" calls. Only to your own customers, only when you say.

Your dashboard

Change the small stuff yourself. We'll handle the big stuff.

Every call, recording, transcript and job sits in your own dashboard. Change your hours, your services or what it says when it picks up, and it's live on the next call.

Want it to do something new, like book straight into your calendar, chase quotes or answer a second line? Tell us and we'll build it for you.

  • Listen to any call and read the transcript
  • Edit your hours, services, service area and greeting
  • See which calls became jobs, and which were spam

Straight up

It tells people it's AI. That's on purpose.

Plenty of services like this hope the caller doesn't notice. That's the thing that actually costs you customers. People work it out, and then they feel had.

nfty says what it is if anyone asks, and never pretends to be a person. Most people say they'd be comfortable with AI if the business were simply upfront about it. What they care about is an answer at 9pm instead of a beep.

  • Won't quote a price it wasn't given
  • Won't promise an arrival time
  • Won't tell anyone how to fix anything
  • Gas, medical or dangerous: safety script, then out of the way
Call transcript · 21:47 SatPat's Plumbing

Hi, you've reached Pat's Plumbing. I'm the after-hours assistant, and I'm an AI. What's happened?

Oh, right. No worries. The hot water system's leaking all over the laundry.

Got it. Is water still coming out, or has it stopped?

Still coming. Slowly.

Then it's urgent, so this goes to whoever's on tonight right now. What's the address?

Said what it is in the first sentence. The caller stayed on.

The bit everyone asks about

You keep your number. You can switch it off tonight.

We don't port your number, we don't touch your line, and we don't sit in front of your calls. You dial one short code on your mobile: **61* for no-answer, **67* for busy, and only the calls already heading for voicemail come to us.

Nothing to migrate. Nothing to break. If you hate it, one more code turns it off and your phone behaves exactly as it did this morning. Right now those calls go to a robot anyway. That robot is voicemail, and voicemail can't book a job.

Who you're dealing with

A small team in Adelaide. Working with businesses right across Australia.

We want local businesses to have the same tools the big operators do, without the big-operator price or the sales pitch. You'll deal with the same people every time, and we'll tell you straight if this isn't right for you yet.

It all happens over the phone and on video, so it doesn't matter whether you're in Penrith or Port Hedland. Setup takes anywhere from a day or two up to a week, depending on how complex your business is: a proper conversation about how it runs, then we build it, test it against three awkward calls, and tune it with you before a real customer hears it.

  • Every state and territory, metro or regional
  • Set up for your time zone, including the half-hour ones
  • Your state's public holidays count as after hours

Straight answers

The things people actually ask

Will it sound like a robot?

Play the recording and judge for yourself. It's a real call to our own line, start to finish. The only edit is muting the caller's phone number. We're not going to convince you with a paragraph.

Want to hear it live rather than recorded? Get in touch and we'll put you straight through to it while you're on the call.

What if it gets something wrong with my customer?

It's built to do less, not more. It won't quote prices, won't promise arrival times, won't diagnose anything, and won't take card details. If a call is heading somewhere it can't handle, it takes a message or puts them straight through to you.

We test every setup with three deliberately awkward calls before it goes live: a normal booking, a price question, and an angry caller.

My customers want to talk to a person.

They do. Right now the ones you miss are talking to your voicemail, and 80% of them hang up without leaving a message. The choice isn't nfty or you. It's nfty or nothing.

How long does setup take?

Anywhere from a day or two up to a week, depending on how complex your setup is. A simple after-hours line is quick; pushing bookings into your own software takes longer. It always starts with a proper conversation about how your business actually runs: your services, your hours, your patch, what counts as an emergency and what can wait until Monday.

Then we build it, test it against those three awkward calls, and tune it with you before a single real customer hears it. We walk you through the diversion code with your mobile in your hand at the end. We never just send you instructions and wish you luck.

We could switch something generic on this afternoon. It would take the wrong details and answer the wrong way, and you'd cancel inside a month. Getting it right first is the part that makes it work.

Can I change things myself?

Yes. Your dashboard lets you change your hours, services, service area and greeting, and listen back to any call. Changes are live on the next call.

For anything else, like new specials, holiday hours or a different way of handling a type of call, just ask and we'll make the change. Each plan includes changes every month, and extra ones are $75. Bigger jobs, like a new integration or a second line, we'll quote first.

What if my customer doesn't speak English?

It speaks more than 30 languages and switches mid-call if the caller does. The job still comes to you in English.

How big are you, really?

A small team, based in Adelaide, built for businesses from one person up to a few dozen staff. You'll deal with the same people every time rather than whoever picks up a ticket. Fair question though, so here's the honest answer: your number never leaves you. If we disappeared tomorrow, one code on your phone and you're back to where you started. That's deliberate.

Does it work with ServiceM8?

Yes. We connect it to your ServiceM8 account so jobs land there straight after each call, usually set up within a day or two. The same goes for simPRO, AroFlo and most booking or job software with an API. Tradify has no public API, so it's text and email only there, and we'll tell you that upfront rather than after you've signed.

Watch it take a call. Then talk to a person, not a call centre.

No forms to fill in, no demo booking, no drip-feed of sales emails. A three-minute recording, and a real conversation if you want one.

Demo Call with NFTYA real call to our own line, start to finish · 3:21
  1. NFTY0:00

Hi, you've reached NFTY. I'm the AI receptionist, so you're hearing exactly what your own customers would. Just so you know, calls are recorded. What kind of business are you calling about?

  2. Caller0:12

Uh, I'm actually a plumbing business. I miss a lot of calls, but I was just calling to see what you guys were about.

  3. NFTY0:22

Plumbing is a classic one! When you're under a sink or on a roof, you can't just pick up the phone, and most people won't leave a voicemail; they just ring the next plumber. NFTY answers those missed calls straight away, gets the job details, and texts them to you so you never lose work. Roughly how many calls would you reckon you're missing a week?

  4. Caller0:42

Probably about four to five calls per week, but it's not that bad. Sometimes they leave voice messages and I call them back.

  5. NFTY0:52

Fair enough, it's great that some leave messages. But industry studies show around eighty percent of people hang up without leaving one and just ring another plumber. Saving even one or two of those jobs a week easily covers our plans, which start from three hundred and fifty dollars a month. Would you be open to a quick ten-minute intro call with the team to see how it'd work for you?

  6. Caller1:14

I would, but, um, our system's actually quite complex, and I would n- not just want this to pick up calls. It would hopefully book in, um, appointments with customers and all that, right? So, how, how would we go at doing this?

  7. NFTY1:31

We can definitely connect directly to your calendar or booking software to book appointments on the spot. The best way is to book that short intro call so the team can look at your exact setup. To get that started, what is your full name?

  8. Caller1:45

Uh, my full name is Chad Burns.

  9. NFTY1:49

Great to meet you, Chad. And what's the name of your plumbing business?

  10. Caller1:54

    Uh, it's Burns Plumbing.

  11. NFTY1:56

Thanks, Chad. What is the best email address to send the booking invite to?

  12. Caller2:02

    Contact@burnsplumbing.com.

  13. NFTY2:07

Got it, so that is contact at burns plumbing dot com, spelled b u r n s plumbing dot com. And what is the best mobile number to reach you on?

  14. Caller2:20

    Uh, 04XX XXX XXX.

  15. NFTY2:24

Thanks Chad. And which Australian state are you based in?

  16. Caller2:29

    Uh, South Australia, so Adelaide.

  17. NFTY2:33

No worries! We have some time available tomorrow, say at ten in the morning or two in the afternoon Adelaide time. Would either of those suit you?

  18. Caller2:42

    Yeah, that would suit me.

  19. NFTY2:45

Lovely! Which of those two suits your schedule better, ten in the morning or two in...

  20. Caller2:49

Um, ten in the morning's actually best for me.

  21. NFTY2:57

Excellent, Chad. So that's ten AM tomorrow, Adelaide time. I'll send over the calendar invite to your email now. You'll get a reminder before the call too.

  22. Caller3:08

    Thank you.

  23. NFTY3:14

You're very welcome, Chad! The team looks forward to speaking with you tomorrow at ten. Have a wonderful day!

The caller's phone number is muted. Everything else is exactly as it happened.
